In 2017, my friend David Hassell initiated a “Carol Challenge,” inviting his friends to sing a verse of their favorite Christmas Carol. It was a way to brighten your Facebook feed during the holidays.

I went to my parents’ house and thought it would be fun to grab a video of us singing my mother’s favorite carol. I left many of the “bloopers” in because they were the best part!

My mother chose to sing “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.” The funny thing is that after we recorded it, she said that wasn’t even the carol she was thinking of. She meant to say “Angels We Have Heard on High.” You know, the one with “glo———ria?”
