This is the third part of a series on what I’m listening to (you can also see the first and the second parts). As I’ve mentioned before, I’m an auditory learner. This means I retain information and am inspired most easily through hearing. Whether on a run or in the car, I’m probably listening to a podcast about the arts, show business, or culture. In this post, I’m going to share five more of my favorite ten podcasts. Click the images below to be taken to its iTunes page, click the podcast’s title to be taken to its website.

Happier in Hollywood

Show business. Two friends-since-high-school move to Hollywood, become business partners writing for television, and create this podcast to discuss. What’s not to love? Oh, and they’re women. This is a good time to be listening to women in Hollywood. 20 minutes

HBR Ideacast

Business. Being able to listen, understand, and (usually) enjoy this podcast from the Harvard Business Review keeps me abreast of trends in business leadership and reminds me that once upon a time I earned an MBA and it may not have been a complete waste of time and money. 15-30 minutes

Fresh Air

Arts. OK, this is the last NPR podcast I’ll mention, but I can’t leave out Terry Gross. I think she’s a fantastic interviewer and her show often features filmmakers, authors, and musicians. 45-50 minutes

Inside Acting

Show business. This is another deep dive podcast that “talks shop” about the entertainment industry. Hosts Trevor Algott and AJ Meijer will interview a single guest, often across several episodes. My criticism of the show is that it’s too long, usually because it takes so much time to start the interview. But the interviews are usually highly informative. My favorite is when they interviewed Jenna Fisher, whom I am learning to love.  45-90 minutes
